HAPPY NEW YEAR 2015

Happy New Year to all members, and we hope that you enjoy the rest of your season. A big thank you to Liz and John for sorting out the social evening at the last session before Christmas, and we hope you all enjoyed the event.  A few updates to keep you all up to speed.

DUTY MANAGER ROLE

A new rota for the rest of the winter season has been issued and attached; please can you make sure you know when you are doing the job. The only way the club can run smoothly is with everyone helping out. The job role has also been updated and is now in the club folder and attached, if you have not done the role yet, please can you talk to Robert Payne and he will guide you in the process.

PINGPONG - “NEVER TOO OLD FOR GOLD”

The club’s weekly over 50s’ daytime sessions are proving very popular. They start back on the 4th Jan and every Monday until the end of April. Times are still 10.00 – 12.00 noon. It’s a turn up and play session, £4.00 at the door or see Nick Davidson if you need more info. All Welcome.

JUNIOR COACHING

The junior coaching starts back this week, and anyone wishing to join the starter sessions can contact Simon Pratten or see him on Friday nights.

NEW LADIES AND JUNIOR GIRLS COACHING SESSIONS

As part of the ongoing Sport England, and National Lottery funding that the club obtained, we are going to start some ladies and junior girls coaching sessions at the club on Friday nights. This will be from 7.15 – 8.15 p.m starting on Friday 9th Jan. Unlike our other coaching groups, there is no commitment, just turn up, pay and play. This project is aimed at getting more females back into our sport. The club has also agreed to offer 10 free coaching sessions to our club members. £5.00 a session for non-club members. Please see Nick Davidson or the attached flyer, website also available.

COMPETITIONS

Darren Griffin showed he was still the person to beat in Gloucestershire after winning the County Closed Championship on the 14th December 2014.

Other club members who performed well were Nick Davidson partnered with David Adamson, who became the County Doubles runners up. Josh Allenby and Will Wickens also played well becoming the Junior U18 Runners up.

In other competitions, the cadets secured a place in the top division of the Cadet League. The Juniors are currently third in the County Junior League.

The Cheltenham Tournament is scheduled for the 22nd March 2014 and the entry form wll be available soon on the website.

SOCIAL & MEDIA CLUB REPRESENTATIVE

The club committee is still searching for someone to fill the above post. It would be great to expand our presence within social and media outlets. These are things like facebook, flicker, twitter and getting newspaper articles published etc. If you feel that you can help, talk to any committee member. We can tell you what we need, expectations and the benefits that go with this position.

EXTRAS

It appears we have a phantom person who keeps leaving the taps running in the ladies loo. Please can we just ask everyone to make sure the taps are switched off when not in operation.

Regarding postponed matches, please can you confirm with Natalie Greening or Richard Comley to make sure there is space for when you wish to re-arrange.

Parents please can we remind you that your children should be collected from the venue, we do not encourage walking home, or for them to wait outside of the venue.

Bats, balls and club shirts are all still available but supplies are limited.
