Elsewhere British Steel emphatically out pointed Corus by the same scoreline with Florin Barbus and Simon Jones both undefeated. Two wins for Keith Roper failed to save County Officers from a heavy defeat to a strong Select team for whom Ray Worthington was in top form, and was well backed up by Barrie Russ and Paul Arrich.
In Division 1 unbeaten Groves A recorded a 7-3 victory over struggling Whitby Sports with Barry Hough and Graham Boyd hitting maximums, and only 3three wins for Ray Gregory saved Barrow A from a complete disaster against the strong Pulford A trio. League leaders County Officers A emphatically out pointed Saughall Deva 9-1 and a fine performance from John Bowen ensured Beechwood recorded a surprise 7- 3 win over Barrow B.
Division 2 action saw leaders Barrow D take full advantage of a weakened County Officers B side to register a 10-0 result, elsewhere Lynsey Powell hit three wins for Groves C in a 6-4 scoreline against Electric Sports for whom Mike Eastell made a welcome return. Mike Moss was once again undefeated in the drawn clash with lowly Tarporley; a similar result occurring in the match between Groves B and County Officers C.
Alan Brumby hit three wins for Electric Sports A as they defeated C Officers E 8-2 in a division 3 match and Northcote hit a welcome 8-2 victory over bottom placed Groves D.
