News Report wc 22 Sept 2014

Division 1 appears  to be as competitive as recent seasons resulting in many close matches. Chris Quartermaine starred for his new team, Pulford B, hitting two terrific wins against a strong Groves A squad but this still failed to prevent a narrow 6-4 victory for the home side, who included Robin Barker and debutant Sid Rivers, both from the Wirral.

On an adjoining table Peter Cottam was undefeated for Groves B against newly promoted Saughall Port but the visitors fought hard and eventually forced a draw. Elsewhere in this division Geoff Willetts continued his tremendous start to the season with another maximum as he led Beechwood to a fine 8-2 scoreline against another promoted side Barrow B. Phil Beech was also in top form for the victors.

Division 2 results included 3 wins each for Dave Galley and Steve Wright as Tarporley began the season with an away success, 6-4 at Saughall Deva, and Groves C also recorded a victory by this scoreline at home to a struggling Electric Sports squad.

The two Barrow sides in division 3 shared the spoils with a 5-5 result, but the star was undoubtedly Russell Hunt of the D team who hit a fine maximum against a very useful C squad that included Brian Fitzpatrick and Steve Tibbett. County Offices F continued  their winning ways with a convincing 10-0 victory over their own inexperienced G side who will no doubt improve as the season progresses.
