News report wc 07 Oct 2014

In the only Premier division fixture Pulford A narrowly defeated County Officers A 6-4, with Dave Southall hitting a fine maximum and being well backed up by new University student Joe Cutts who was also undefeated. On an adjoining table Mark Pugh led his powerful Newton side to a comprehensive 9-0 cup victory over a sporting Officers first team, and they now await the semi final draw.

In division 1 John Chan led leaders Pulford B to a fine 7-3 victory over Groves, and John Allera continued his good run with three wins as Barrow A outpointed Groves B to remain unbeaten. Roger Lee and Suzanne Burgess hit maximums as Newton B moved off the bottom of the table following a 9-1 win over Beechwood.

Division 2 action saw newly promoted Barrovians continue their fine start as they recorded a comfortable 8-2  victory over Electric Sports, Greg Marsh and his team having already forced a fine draw with visitors Tarporley earlier in the week with Jack Auckland leading the way in terrific style. Tarporley welcomed back Dave Galley for the home clash with a County Officers C side playing their first league fixture but he was unable to save the villagers from a 4-6 reverse. Steve Sung was another player in unbeatable form but again his wins were not enough to prevent his Groves D side from defeat at the hands of a solid looking Saughall Deva trio by 6 points to 4.

In division 3 all four of the County Officers teams were in direct opposition with comprehensive victories for Lola Roberts and the D team as well as John Ashton and the F squad. Peter Zemroch and his Groves E team opened their season with a splendid 5-5 result at home to a strong Barrow C trio including Steve Tibbett and Michele Hall.
