Cheshire county player Wayne Percival hit a hard earned maximum as he led the Veterans to a terrific 7-3 victory over rivals Mid Cheshire league in a Lancs/ Cheshire Premier division fixture at Groves last week. Teammates Mark Pugh and Tomasz Halucha recorded two fine wins each, and after a difficult start to the season, plus the loss of top player, Tomasz Rzeszotko, the team is comfortably placed in third spot with just an away match against Oldham outstanding.

In the local league holders Barrow triumphed in their Odex trophy semi final clash away at division 1 leaders County Officers A with in form Danny Russell leading the way, and now face Pulford or Corus B.  On an adjoining table Neil Powell hit an emphatic maximum as Corus recorded a 6-4 Premier league win over a sporting County Officers squad for whom Keith Roper was in fine form.

In division 1 Ray Gregory led Barrow A to yet another victory, this time over, albeit, a slightly weakened Groves team by a scoreline of 8-2. A division 2 fixture featured highly placed County Officers C who travelled to Groves C for a rearranged match and triumphed 7-3 which keeps them in contention for a promotion place. Lynsey Powell hit 2 wins for the Ellesmere Port club.

In the Handicap cup for divisions 2 and 3 the quarter final paired Roger Dutton and his Officers B squad from the second tier against in form Northcote from the third with the Officers slight favourites to progress to a clash with their own C team, and already through to the final are Dave Galley and the Tarporley team who entertained and defeated division 3 side Officers D by a comfortable margin of 43 points.
