Current Premier division champions, Barrow, have opened their season with two impressive 10-0 scorelines against a Pulford A squad who included Ray Worthington and a County Officers team featuring hard hitting Hannah Winfield who came within a couple of points of defeating current Liverpool champion Jonathan Taylor. Elsewhere the strong Newton side defeated Officers A 9-1 and Milan Puchala led the Newton A side to a similar score against the same opposition.

Division 1 highlights included a fine maximum for Gareth Hughes as newly promoted Barrow B forced an excellent draw at Groves A and 3 wins each for John Allera and Martin Caveen as Barrow A outpointed Saughall Port 7-3.  John Chan was undefeated as Pulford B overcame Groves B 6-4 and Geoff Willetts was in terrific form for Beechwood but failed to save his team from defeat.

Newly promoted Barrovians opened their division 2 campaign with a narrow 6-4 success over Groves C despite 3 wins for Mike Moss, and Colin Fergus led Officers B to a similar scoreline at home to Groves D before recording an emphatic 9-1 victory a week later over Groves C.  Electric Sports are struggling at present and a weakened team lost 1-9 in their opening fixture.

Surprising victories in division 3 for two of the Officers squads in the opening week over more than useful Barrow sides but not such good news in the following week as Officers E and G opened the season with heavy 1-9 reverses at home to Saughall Inst and Electric A respectively. However. Officers D followed up their fine first week victory with a hard fought draw against a Barrow C squad inspired by Bryan Fitzpatrick.
