Premier division champions, Newton, suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of their own A squad who fielded both Tomasz Rzeszotko and Milan Puchala, plus young Liam Fletcher and ran out 8 2 victors. League singles champion Shaun Hall only recorded one win as did captain Mark Pugh with Clwyd county player Nev Lacey empty handed. Elsewhere Ray Worthington hit a maximum for Pulford A in a drawn clash at Groves, and Simon Jones and Andy Eagles were both undefeated as Pulford first team accounted for newly promoted Pulford B 8 2.
In division 1 County Officers fought back from 1 4 down to defeat Groves B, and Phil Hough continued his good form as Groves A hit top spot following a convincing 8 2 scoreline against Beechwood.
In the all Officers division 2 clash the C team overwhelmed the B trio 10 0 although a number went to a decider, new signing Ian Barlow leading the victors to the top of the league table. Terry Haselden ensured that Barrovians forced a draw with Saughall Port, and Hom Wang did likewise for Officers D in their home clash with Tarporley. Martin Dodd led Barrow B to a convincing 8 2 victory at home to Groves D and have closed on the leaders.
Division 3 highlights included a terrific maximum for Michelle Hall as Barrow C defeated the strong Saughall Institute team 8 2, and leaders Officers E comfortably outpointed Electric A by a similar scoreline. Danny Cooper ensured Groves E shared the points with Barrow D, and in an earlier match the Port side defeated Officers G 6 points to 4.
