Two unbeaten records ended last week when Premier Division leaders Barrow and division 1 leaders Groves A both suffered home reverses. Barrow faced champions Newton and although Aaron Beech outpointed top County player Wayne Percival , Shaun Hall was back to his very best and led his team to a narrow 6 4 victory.
County Officers moved into second place in division 1 following an impressive 7 3 away success at Groves A , Andy Taylor once again leading with a maximum. For the losing side Steve Clift had a fine win over Clwyd county player Harold Furber.
Division 2 action saw unbeaten Saughall Port go to the head of the table following a convincing 9 1 success over a weakened Groves D squad, the victors including experienced Ken Hill in their ranks. After a torrid time County Officers B finally got a welcome victory when they returned from Tarporley with a resounding 8 2 scoreline which moves them up to fourth position, and Daniel Webber hit a maximum as title challengers Officers C were held to a draw by a useful Barrovians team.
Bob Salisbury led Saughall Institute to another fine division 3 victory when they overcame bottom placed Electric Sports A 9 1 and move into runners up position. Lola Roberts hit a tremendous maximum as her lowly Officers G trio outpointed high flying Officers E 6 4, a severe blow to the E teams promotion hopes. Elsewhere Stuart Shipley continued his improved form leading Officers F to a hard fought 6 4 victory over Groves E.
