In a vital Lancashire/Cheshire Premier division veterans match the Chester/E Port team came from 2 down to defeat a talented Trafford side 7-3 and hopefully preserve their league status. Tomasz Rzeszotko and Mark Pugh suffered early surprising defeats but together with Simon Jones the trio fought back tremendously in an enthralling match full of top table tennis. 

In the local divisions Michelle Hall led Barrow C to a terrific 6-3 success in the final of the Devine Shield against possible division 3 champions Saughall Institute, they play off against main rivals County Officers D this week. 

Division 1 champions Pulford B completed their league fixtures with a hard fought 6-4 victory over lowly Newton B, Roger Lee inflicting a rare defeat upon John Chan having lost to both Mike Phelan and Mike Tattum earlier in the match. 

In a delayed Robert Moreton Shield quarter final in form Groves D eased past Electric Sports by 40 points and now face Saughall Institute for a place in the final. 

Saughall Deva completed the double over Electric Sports to confirm runners up spot in division 2, a fine season for Dave Ash and his squad.
