The new season began with a limited number of matches in the four divisions, the highlight being the clash between the very strong Barrow squad and rivals Newton A in the Premier. Milan Puchala recorded the only success for the visitors but provided some terrific entertainment going 2 games up against the current 6 champions holder, Jonathan Taylor, before losing 17-19, 9-11 9-11. Newton also included Cheshire County Veterans player Ken Connor and young Connor Climo but were unable to stop the Barrow team on the night , brilliantly led by Aaron Beech.

In division 1 the two relegated County Officers squads clashed with the result going 6 4 in favour of the first team, and both are expected to be at the forefront this season. Promoted County Officers D opened their division 2 campaign with a narrow defeat against the Officers B squad, the highlight being a tremendous maximum for young Hom Wang in his first match at this level. County Officers C opened with a comfortable 7 3 result against relegated Barrow B to prove what a competitive division this is proving already.

In division 3 Bryan Fitzpatrick led Barrow C to a draw against a resilient Officers F, and Brian Wareing was in top form for Barrow D as they entertained and defeated a sporting Officers G side.
