In their first Lancs/Cheshire Vets Premier division match of the season the first team returned from Preston with a convincing 7 3 victory based on a maximum from Tomasz Rzeszotko and two fine wins for new signing Steve Green.

In the local top division John Chan ensured that Pulford A got off to a winning start with a strong performance against County Officers and teammates Mike Phelan and new signing Wayne Taylor assisted in a 7 3 victory.

Mike Moss led Groves C to a narrow victory over Beechwood in week one, but could do little in a following match against a useful Newton B squad who ran out 9 1 winners, young Matt Fox hitting his first maximum in our league. On an adjoining table an early injury to top player Steve Clift severely handicapped Groves A against Newton C and with hard hitting Stuart Dearden in good form the visitors recorded an 8 2 scoreline.

Ade Fagbire led Saughall Port to an emphatic 9 1 victory in division 2 against a good Officers C trio, and Martin Dodd was also in unbeatable form as Barrow B accounted for Groves D 8 2. Elsewhere newcomer Jens Anderson hit a fine maximum for in form Barrovians as they narrowly outpointed Electric Sports 6 4.

In division 3 Nigel Campbell was undefeated as Officers E recorded a 7 3 victory in an enjoyable clash with their own F team.
