In the division 3 cup quarter finals newcomers Groves E under the captaincy of Giles Cadman, recorded a splendid 5 1 victory over Electric Sports A and now progress to meet the experienced Barrow E squad, whilst favourites County Officers E also reached the last four following a similar scoreline against the revamped Barrow D team.

In the division 1 cup Newton C had a terrific 5 1 success over Groves A with four of the games going to a fifth decider. Jeff Sharples led by example and Simon Watts won both his doubles matches.

Division 2 action witnessed the best match of the week with league favourites Barrovians going down 4 5 to a delighted Barrow B squad . Once again Jens Anderson was in unbeatable form for Barrovians but Jim Whittaker studied the scorecard prior to the match and led his team to a narrow hard fought win.

In the Premier cup Barrow cruised through to the final with a 7 2 victory over Groves, and in the only league match Newton defeated a sporting Pulford A team 9 1 after some close encounters.

Congratulations to our young representative player Joe Killoran who collected the player of the tournament at the recent Blackpool Grand Prix as well as winning the very strong band 3 mens title. Tomasz Rzeszotko was narrowly beaten in the Veterans final.
