The league representative first team began their defence of the prestigious Lancs/Cheshire Premier division title with 3 fine wins and a draw on Sunday to place them narrowly top on 7 points at the half way stage. Shaun Hall was in unbeatable form surviving some very tough matches and was well backed up by Aaron Beech and Rob Wylie as they succeeded in defeating the powerful Liverpool and Bury squads 4 2, Bury A 6 0 before being held to a 3 3 draw by Warrington. Shaun was the only undefeated player on the day with 8 wins, and now the team face rivals Oldham, Trafford and Wilmslow next year in a bid to retain the title. Tomasz Rzeszotko and Joe Killoran are also members of this very strong squad.
A very good Chester/ E Port A team lie second in division 1 with 5 points from 4 matches, suffering a surprise defeat at the hands of Manchester. In form Steve Green led the trio and was backed up by the experienced Wayne Percival and Ray Worthington, and they must be confident of a promotion spot following the second series of matches.
The B team featured in a very strong Division 2 which includes Mitchell Barker and Jonathan Taylor representing relegated Wirral! Colin Fergus and Hom Wang kindly stepped in at short notice to form the basis of the team and new German student Alex Relea- Linder completed the line up. All three fought hard but struggled in every match but it was good experience for the trio to play at this level against other leagues top players.
