Division 2 action saw leaders Saughall Port record an emphatic 9 1 victory over a sporting Barrow C side that has found going very tough since promotion. Dave Ash was undefeated for the winners with Bryan Fitzpatrick picking up the solitary Barrow point. Rivals Barrovians continue to press, however , and also recorded a 9 1 win against bottom side County Officers D for whom Ian Roper had success against Brian Burr. On an adjoining table Officers C also suffered defeat going down 3 7 to a Martin Dodd inspired Barrow B squad who move into third position.

The only Premier encounter saw luckless Barrow A come up against Shaun Hall and his Newton team and the result was another 10 0 defeat for the village side that remains bottom.

In division 1 Groves B move into a challenging position following another 9 1 scoreline, this time against struggling Saughall Deva. Phil Hough was in particularly good form for for the victors. Elsewhere Newton B took advantage of a slightly weakened Officers A side to record a fine 8 2 victory , and although Mike Mercer was undefeated he was taken to 12 10 in the fifth by hard hitting Andy Barlow and 15 13 in the fifth against unlucky Keith Roper. Beechwood continue to have a much improved season and hit a brilliant 6 4 win over a full strength Groves A side with Geoff Willetts leading the way for the victors.

In the division 3 cup semi final a keenly contested all Officers clash surprisingly resulted in a comfortable 5 0 victory for the E squad although the G team opponents fought for every point in a match of good standard.
