All three veterans representative teams were in Lancashire/Cheshire action last week and they all recorded excellent victories. In the Premier division Mark Pugh and Milan Puchala hit maximums as they hosted Blackpool and along with teammate Ken Connor they completed a 9 1 win which leaves them comfortably in mid table at present. The high flying A team called upon Neville Lacey and Ivor Jones for there away trip in division 2 at Kendal and with Andy Eagles in top form they returned home with an important 6 4 victory which keeps them in top position and hopeful of promotion.

In division 3 the B side travelled to unbeaten Oldham B and were delighted to record an important and hard fought 6 4 win which moves them into a challenging position after losing their first league match back in September. John Chan and Andy Taylor were once again in top form and well backed up by captain Keith Bartlett.

In the local league it was handicap cup week and pride of place goes to lowly Groves E who surprised high flying division 3 side Saughall Institute with a terrific 21 point victory. Dave Randell led the way and Pete Zemroch collected vital points during the match, and they now face Janet Timewell and her Electric Sports A team who also recorded an equally fine victory knocking out Alan Gilmore and his in form Barrow D squad.

The only side through to the Odex semi finals at present are the Groves C trio who narrowly outpointed one of the previous favourites for the trophy, County Officers A. Mal Turley and Steve Sung picked up vital points during the match in a 20 point winning margin.
