Premier champions, Barrow, opened the new season with a comprehensive 10 0 victory over a sporting Groves trio. The village team included Steve Green and Peter Walsh backing up captain Rob Wylie, and have a very strong squad this year. Newly promoted Barrow A faced a strong Pulford team led by Simon Jones and Andy Eagles and suffered an expected 9 1 defeat, and Newton A narrowly defeated County Officers 6 4 with a fine maximum from captain Linda Hales.

Division 1 action saw newly promoted Officers B force a draw at Saughall Deva thanks to 3 terrific wins for Colin Fergus, and Graham Boyd ensured a weakened Groves A drew their clash with Groves B. Alan Rigby was in top form as Officers A narrowly outpointed Newton C who included Simon Watts and Stan Houghton.

Gareth Hughes led Barrow B to a decisive 9 1 scoreline against Electric Sports in division 2, and Terry Haselden led a very strong Barrovians squad to an 8 2 away victory at Tarporley. Saughall Port were unstoppable at Officers D and hit a maximum scoreline with Polina Petrova in fine form, and newcomer Charlie Cooke led Officers C to an emphatic 8 2 success over promoted Barrow C.

Division 3 action saw Alan Gilmore in fine form for Barrow E as they came away from Officers F with a comprehensive 8 2 victory, and new signing Charlotte Armor ensured Saughall Institute got off to a splendid start as they defeated Officers G 7 3.
