In the top division 2 encounter Saughall Port took a huge step towards the title with a hard fought 6 4 victory over close rivals Barrovians. Polina Petrova and Dave Ash led the way with two fine wins although Jens Anderen was once again undefeated for the opposition. Elsewhere Ian Barlow was in terrific form for County Officers C as they eased past Groves D 6 4 and Gareth Hughes hit a maximum as Barrow B hit a similar victory scoreline away at Officers D.

In the Premier division favourites Barrow fielded a powerful trio against rivals Newton and recorded a 7 3 victory but the star was Shaun Hall who defeated Messrs McEvoy, Taylor and Green without conceding a game. Ray Gregory hit a first ever Premier maximum as Barrow A defeated a much weakened Newton A side 8 2, great to see John Ashbrook playing again,and Pulford A welcomed back John Chan against Groves and he led the team to a comprehensive victory. Simon Jones with teammates Andy Eagles and Ray Worthington proved too strong for County Officers and Pulford moved into third position with a 10 0 scoreline.

In division 1 Steve Jones stepped up for Groves C and hit two terrific wins against the very useful Groves A team in a match that ended all square, and Roger Lee was in top form as Newton C maintained their unbeaten sequence at the expense of a battling Saughall Deva side who belied their low league position.
