The Chester/ E Port Veterans representative teams recorded good results recently in their respective Lancs/ Cheshire divisions. The Premier side returned from Warrington with a hard fought 5 5 draw, two wins each for Malcolm McEvoy and Mark Pugh , with Ken Connor teaming up with Mc Evoy to take the important doubles.
The B team entertained our friends from the Wirral in a division 2 encounter and as per last season the home team ran out comfortable winners 8 2 to remain in a mid table position. Maximums for Jens Andersen and Andy Taylor and a good win for Keith Bartlett plus the doubles completed a satisfactory evening.
In the local Premier division a weakened Barrow side ran out 7 3 winners over County Officers to maintain their strong top of the table position, Aaron Beech and Rob Wylie both being undefeated.
In the handicap cup quarter finals Tom Bawn and Mike Elton led Officers D to a surprise win away at Groves D and they are joined by a Russell Hunt inspired Tarporley Electric A side that recorded a terrific away victory at Barrow D. Elsewhere Will Davies ensured that struggling division 3 side Groves E belied their lowly league position with a brilliant 32 point success away at experienced Barrow B. They will be joined in the semis by the winner of the Barrow C/ Officers G clash on Tuesday.
