Groves A entertained fellow division 1 side Saughall Deva in the Odex handicap quarter finals and despite some fine attacking play from Graham Boyd went down to a Richard Scott inspired Deva squad by 23 points. They now face Groves C in the semis for the dubious right to challenge the powerful County Officers B who comfortably outpointed a fighting Saughall Port trio by over 60 points in the other semi final. In an earlier match the Officers clinched the division 1 title following a 7 3 victory over Groves C and we offer our congratulations to Messrs Simpson, Webber and Fergus.

In the Robert Moreton Shield for teams in divisions 2 and 3 Groves E maintained their terrific run with a tremendous 35 point Semi final win at home to in form Tarporley Electric A. Will Davies was in top form for the Ellesmere team as they belied their lowly division 3 position. They will now meet struggling division 2 side Officers D who edged out Officers G by just 6 points with young Tom Bawn coming good in the final game to clinch victory.

In a Premier match Pulford moved into second spot after Simon Jones and Andy Eagles led them to an emphatic 9 1 victory over County Officers, and in a division 1 encounter Phil Beech and John Bowen were both in fine form as Beechwood comfortably defeated a strong Saughall Deva team 8 2.
