Newton began their Premier division season with a comprehensive, but never the less entertaining, 10 0 victory away at Groves who included debutant Nathan Bradshaw as well as Jordyn Layfield. Shaun Hall led the strong Newton team and was well backed up by Mark Pugh and Ken Connor.

Promoted County Officers B opened their campaign with an impressive 7 3 success over Officers A, Mark Simpson hitting a fine maximum, and champions Barrow fielded a very strong trio and defeated Pulford 8 2.

In division 1 a slightly weakened Groves C squad fought out a tough draw with promoted County Officers C, Mike Tattum hitting two fine singles wins for the home side. Officers welcomed back Will Sleddon and he played an important part in the result. Elsewhere Newton B also shared the points, this time against Saughall Port, Mariusz Piechota made his debut for Newton and hit an excellent win over talented Hong Wang.

In Division 2 Newton C have a very talented squad and proved far too strong for a depleted Barrow B team, and newly promoted Barrow C suffered a heavy 1 9 defeat in their initial match at home to Groves D.

Division 3 highlights included a maximum for Roger Dutton as Officers G outpointed Officers H 7 3, and a similar scoreline occurred as Bryan Fitzpatrick led Barrow D to victory at Saughall Institute.
