The first cup final of the season was contested last week when Division 1 runners up Saughall Port met mid table Groves B for the Peter Powell  trophy with the villagers slight favourites because of their fine league season, and the fact they had eliminated eventual champions Saughall Deva  5 3 in the quarters. Port  number  one player Polina Petrova found herself being called out in four of the five initial games but no lead was established and the Groves trio of Terry Marshall, Barry and Philip Hough fought tenaciously and  fully deserved their final victory by a scoreline of 5 2 in a very entertaining contest.

In the final league games of the season a weakened Newton trio were defeated 7 3 by a strong  Barrow team, however, Mark Pugh recorded a tremendous maximum for the Premier champions outpointing Malcolm and Daniel McEvoy plus Aaron Beech. In division 1 John Allera led Barrow A to a hard fought 6 4 victory over a spirited Tarporley Electric trio who eventually finished second from bottom and may yet escape relegation.
