Ormesby A continue to dominate the first division of the Cleveland & District Summer Table Tennis League when they defeated another one of the contenders Ormesby B by 9 sets to 1. Joe Cope and David Gofton both scored hat tricks while Jack Cope won 2 losing only to Thomas Rayner.
The match was hard fought and close in several of the sets. David Ashwell took Joe Cope to 5 games before Cope won at 11-5 in the decider. Thomas Rayner stretched David Gofton to win 11-5 in the deciding game.
The doubles was even closer when Joe Cope and David Gofton beat David Ashwell and Michael Young 12-10 in the decider. Thomas Rayner’s win for the ‘B’ Team was in straight games against Jack Cope.
Beaumont Accountancy Nomads A who are in second place kept their top position in the table with a 7-3 victory over Ormesby ‘C’ despite a good performance by Ryan Nassau. Kevin Linsley, Stephen Baines and Malcolm Corking all won 2 for Beaumont but Ryan Nassau was the star of the match with his win over Malcolm Corking at 12-10 in the decider. Nigel Savage won 1 of his sets against Stephen Baines.
Darlington Dolphins A produced a good result to beat mid table Nunthorpe A by 6 sets to 4. A Hat trick from Luke Robinson and 2 wins from Callum McRae produced most of the wins for Darlington. Glen Hodgson produced most of the opposition for Nunthorpe with wins against Callum McRae and Jamie Peacock.
Ormesby A have built up a substantial lead at the top of the table. After just 4 matches they have a lead of 14 points over second place Beaumont A.
Beaumont A are second by only 1 point with 23 while Ormesby B and Westbourne are 3th and 4th with 22.
