MATCH REPORTS WEEKENDING 8 JUNE 2018

Northfield A took an early lead in Division 2 of the Cleveland & District Summer Table Tennis League when they scored a convincing win over Darlington Dolphins B by 10 sets to 0.  Tommy Webster, Gary Whittle and David Drummond all scored convincing hat tricks.

Beaumont Accountancy Nomads B improved their chances of honours when they visited one of their main rivals, Hartlepool Westbourne B, and won 8-2 last week.  Geoff Howe and Bruce Lowther both scored hat tricks whilst Richard Chamberlain won 1.  The match was much closer than the score line suggests.  Geoff Howe defeated John Harper at 11-9 in the decider, whilst Bruce Lowther beat David Hutchinson at 11-7 in the 5th.  Westbourne B had one of their wins with close victories when Gary Pearson beat Richard Chamberlain at 11-8 in the decider.  David Hutchinson also beat Richard Chamberlain but this was by 3 games to 1.

Northfield A lead the division with 37 points from 4 matches.  Nunthorpe B, who didn’t have a fixture this week, are in second position with 28 points.  Following their victory over Hartlepool Westbourne B, Beaumont are next with 27 from 4 but Hartlepool Westbourne B stay in contention because they have one match in hand and 22 points.
