Ormesby B improved their challenge for honours in the 1st Division in the Cleveland & District Summer Table Tennis League when they defeated rivals Beaumont A by 8-2 in last weeks fixtures.
Michael Young was the star of the match for Ormesby scoring a hat-trick beating all three of his opponents; Kevin Linsley, Ian Plummer, Stephen Baines all by 3 games to 1. Adam Ridley and Gary Whyman won two each with Ridley losing 11-8 in the decider to Linsley. Gary Whyman beat Linsley at 13-11 in the decider but was beaten by Plummer at 11-5 in the 5th.
Westbourne A maintained their challenge with a 9-1 victory against Ormesby C. Both Jimmy Scope and Tony Leonard both scored hat-tricks while Phil Webster won 2 losing only to Nigel Savage.
Ormesby A maintain their lead at the top of the table with 10-0 victory over Darlington Dolphins A with hat tricks from David Gofton, Ben Piggott and George Hill. The closest set was Hill’s 11-9 decider victory over Luke Robinson.
Ormesby A maintain a big lead at the top of the division with 74 points from 8 matches. Westbourne A are second with 48 from 8, but vulnerable to a challenge from Ormesby B who have 40 from 7. Beaumont A remain in the frame with 38 from 8, while Nunthorpe A are outsiders with 31 from 7.
