MATCH REPORTS WEEKENDING 3 AUGUST 2018
 

Ormesby A consolidated their lead at the top of Division 1 in the Cleveland and District Summer Table Tennis League last week, with a comprehensive victory over one of their rivals, Hartlepool’s Westbourne A by 10-0.   

Joe Cope, Ben Piggott and David Gofton all won their sets convincingly with only Ben Piggott’s match again Jimmy Scope needing the fourth game and the Hartlepool pair of Tony Leonard and Phil Webster taking Joe Cope and Ben Piggott to four games in the doubles.  This victory increases the Ormesby lead over the rest of the field. Ormesby A now have 84 points from their 9 fixtures and are unbeaten, while Westbourne A trail in third place with 48.   

Ormesby B have consolidated their second place position with an 8-2 victory over Nunthorpe A in which Karl Shaw and Carl White both scored hat tricks.  Barbara Kearney and David Williams won one each for Nunthorpe with wins against Michael Young.  Barbara Kearney beat Michael Young 11-6 in the decider while David Williams defeated Michael Young by 3 games to 1.  This gives Ormesby B 48 points with a match in hand over their rivals.  

Beaumont Accountancy Nomads A kept their interest in the honours race with an 8-2 victory over Darlington A. 

Malcolm Corking who was the star of the Beaumont team scoring a hat trick, whilst Kevin Linsley and Steve Baines won two each.  Luke Robinson won Darlington A’s  two points beating Kevin Lindsey 11-9 in the decider and Steve Baines by 3 sets to 1. Beaumont have 46 points from 9.
