MATCH REPORTS WEEKENDING 24 AUGUST 2018

With hat tricks from Tommy Webster, Gary Whittle and David Drummond, Northfield A boosted their challenge for the second division title of the Cleveland and District Summer Table Tennis League.

Only one of the 10 sets needed the deciding game when Gary Whittle was taken to 5 by Joe Watts. Joe Watts led by 2 games to 1 before Gary Whittle won the 4th and 5th at 11-8 and 11-5.

Top of the table Beaumont Accountancy Nomads B lost ground when they were defeated 6-4 by the Northfield B team, for whom Jane Durham scored a hat trick and Steve Burge won 2.  Geoff Howe produced the best results for Beaumont winning 2 of his sets, whilst Bruce Lowther and Sam Hugill had to be content with 1 each.

Nunthorpe B maintained their challenge for honours with 10-0 victory over Ormesby H.  Barbara Kearney, Trevor Teasdale and David Hildreth all scored hat tricks in a one-sided match.

Beaumont B still lead the table with 97 points from 14 matches, while Nunthorpe B are second with 94 from 13.  Northfield A are now in a very strong position as they are unbeaten having won all of their 10 fixtures and just trail the leaders by only 7 points, which gives them an excellent chance of clinching the title.
