Ormesby A made a good start in defence of their First Division Championship title in the Cleveland and District Summer Table Tennis League with two victories in the opening fixtures.

Ormesby entertained Beaumont Accountancy Nomads A and won by 9 sets to 1, with hat tricks from Ryan Nassau and Karl Shaw while Michael Young won two, losing only to Tony Langley.

Ormesby A followed this up with an 8-2 victory against their own B team with Ben Savage scoring a hat trick while Ryan Nassau and Nigel Savage won two each.  For Ormesby B team, William Lim did well to beat Ryan Nassau by 3 games to 1, while Katie Bates produced a surprise victory over Nigel Savage at 11-9 in the decider.

Hartlepool's, Westbourne A, made a good start by beating Northfield A by 8 sets to 2.  Jimmy Scope was the star of the match scoring a hat trick while Phil Webster and Tony Leonard both won two.  Dave Drummond and Tom Webster both won one each for Northfield.

Beaumont Accountancy Nomads A recovered from their defeat to Ormesby A when they entertained Nunthorpe A and won by 8 sets to 2.  Stephen Baines was the star of the Beaumont team, scoring a hat trick, while Peter Sermon and Peter Abell won two each.  Anne Pashley won one set for Nunthorpe beating Abell while Dave Williams won the other Nunthorpe set with a victory against Peter Sermon.
