With two victories last week, Ormesby A have increased their prospects of winning Division 1 of the Cleveland & District Summer Table Tennis League.

Despite a hat trick from Jimmy Scope, Ormesby A defeated Hartlepool Westbourne A by six sets to four.  Michael Young and Karl Shaw both won two whilst David Noutch won one beating Phil Webster.  In addition to Scope's hat trick Keith Robinson scored one singles for Westbourne beating David Noutch in straight games.

The match was even closer than the score line suggests as Young beat Phil Webster 11-8 in the decider and Noutch won against the same player 14-12 in the fifth.  Michael Young won a second set by beating Robinson  11-9 in the decider.  This match could easily have been won by Westbourne A.

Ormesby's second match was against Nunthorpe A which was won by nine sets to one.  Michael Young and Karl Shaw both scored hat tricks while Carl White won two, David Williams won the only set for Nunthorpe beating White by three games to one.

Westbourne A however lost ground when they played a 5-5 draw with Nunthorpe.  Scope was again the star for Westbourne A  winning two, while Nicky Corking for Nunthorpe was star of the match with a hat trick.  David Pashley also did well for Nunthorpe to win two.
This match was also a very close contest with four of the ten sets needing the deciding game.
