Top 2 go head to head in D1 week 5

Table topping Rowhedge E travelled to 100% Pegasus A this week as first met second in Division 1.

No player managed to remain unbeaten in the course of the encounter but Rowhedge E’s team of Martin Edwards, John Owen and Pete Simmonds proved more than a match for a new look Pegasus team consisting of Steve Noble, Tim Huxtable and Duncan Elloy- the latter playing his first Colchester match in more than 20 years. Each of the Rowhedge team won 2 games out of 3 and although Steve Noble managed the same for the home team, an Edwards/Simmonds doubles victory saw the away team leave with a deserved 7-3 result in their favour.

With no scorecards yet received from other fixtures, Dedham A move up the table to 3rd with a convincing home win over Lawford A. Mike Tracey continued his recent good form with an undefeated performance, leaving him and father Paul with identical averages for the season so far. Graham Mortimer resisted well for the away side but his 2 was the team’s total in an 8-2 Dedham victory. Lawford’s B team fared better than their A with a 6-4 win at home to Great Horkesley C where Peter Freeborough lead the way with his first maximum of the season, not dropping a set all evening.
