League Press Report - Week 6

Rowhedge B continued their impressive run of form in the Premier Division by thrashing Pegasus A 10-0. Rik James, Gary Young and Alan Burgess were the players winning the ten points for Rowhedge, however they did not find it easy. Only four games were won in straight sets, which suggests the standard between top and bottom is not as big as it first seemed, with this result leaving Pegasus bottom of the table. Tollgate A are only one point behind after beating Rowhedge A 7-3. Defending Ladies’ Singles champion, Jane Li, could not call upon her past experience to make the score-line seem even more impressive, losing all three of her games for Tollgate. Tollgate B recorded a good win over Dedham A, winning 7-3.

In Division One, Pegasus B piled more pressure on Rowhedge F by beating them 10-0. This result moves Pegasus up to 3rd in the table, only one point behind a promotion spot. It also leaves Rowhedge F in serious trouble at the foot of the table. They are now eight points away from safety, and have played a game more than the team currently sitting in the final safe position. Walton B had a good 8-2 victory against Gt Horkesley B which propels them into 2nd place. Derek Willis was the only player to achieve a maximum.

Tollgate D continue to dominate Division Two. A 10-0 victory at Gt Horkesley D moves them ahead of Pegasus C and have the chance to extend their lead further next week with a home game against 7th-placed Lawford B, who are sitting perilously close to a relegation spot. Tollesbury B helped their chances of staying up by beating St James D 7-3. Bryan Speller won all of his games for Tollesbury to help them beat the team who got promoted alongside them last season from Division Three. Rowhedge G continue their revival by beating Lawford B 9-1. After starting the season so poorly, they are now only four points away from a promotion spot. Dedham B and Gt Horkesley C played out a 5-5 draw.

In Division Three, the young players of Rowhedge I had a good 8-2 win over Dedham C. Cameron Simpson and Jared Chelski both won all of their games to help move the Rowhedge team up the table. They also played another game during the week, beating Lawford C 7-3. Dedham D face a huge battle to stay in the division. They lost 9-1 to Rowhedge H and have played four games more than the team above them. Pegasus F drew 5-5 with Lawford D.

The Gilberd B stay top of Division Four after drawing 5-5 with Tollesbury C. Olly Fifield impressed again by winning all three of his games. This means he has now won 11 out of the 12 games he has played. However, CRGS A are keeping the pressure on, with a strong 9-1 win against Pegasus H. Tollgate F sit only two points behind after beating Tollgate E 7-3. Ken Huang won all the points for Tollgate E. Lawford E beat Gt Horkesley F 8-2, with Stephen Irwin achieving a maximum for Lawford.
