Olly Fifield loses his unbeaten record to Division Three leaders

It was a week of thrills and spills for some of the youngsters in Division Three last week. Gilberd A faced Tollgate G, with the Gilberd going in full of confidence as they had Olly Fifield, a player who had not been beaten so far this season, at their disposal. However, things did not go quite to plan. Fifield won his first game, but then lost against Leon Huang and Toby Deng as the match moved very late into the evening. Tollgate won the match 8-2 to stay top of the table. Pegasus C are second, three points behind Tollgate G, but could only manage a 5-5 draw against Tollgate F. Alastair Woodcock won all his games. Gt Horkesley D had a very good 10-0 win over St James E, albeit with St James only being able to turn up with two players. Pegasus D beat Dedham B 8-2. Dennis Dellow achieved a maximum for Pegasus. Gt Horkesley C move to within five points of a promotion place after beating Pegasus E 9-1. Both Roger Warren and Hazel Hume won all their games for Gt Horkesley.

 

Dedham C and Tollesbury C take up the top two spots in Division Four. Dedham beat Pegasus G 6-4; however, no player was unbeaten at the end of the night. Tollesbury beat Tollgate H 7-3, even after playing with only two players. Martin Lewis and Shirley Carroll won every game of the evening, including the doubles, to move within three points of Dedham.

 

In the Premier Division, Tollgate B beat Walton A 7-3. Colin Bennett achieved a maximum for Tollgate.

 

Division One already looks to be separated by a fair margin between the top half and bottom half of the table. Walton B lead the way by one point after beating Tollgate C 7-3. Derek Willis won all his games for Walton. Tollgate D are just behind them thanks to an 8-2 victory over Tollesbury A. Ciaran Whelan achieved a maximum. Gt Horkesley A are another team right in the mix after beating Lawford B 9-1. Ken Lewis and Steve Holland both walked out unbeaten on the night.

 

Jared Chelski was back to his winning self after helping Rowhedge G salvage a 5-5 draw against St James D in Division Two. Lawford C stay top after a challenging match against 2nd-place Rowhedge F. Lawford won 6-4, but none of their players could beat Pawel Szemro of Rowhedge. Dedham A drew 5-5 with Rowhedge E, with Lajos Zsisku winning all his games for Rowhedge. Gt Horkesley B and Pegasus B also drew 5-5. Tony Eversden was able to take his win percentage to 88.89% after winning all his games for Pegasus.
