Halfway stage arrives in the Colchester and District Table Tennis League

Who would’ve thought the league has now reached its halfway point? It’s been an extremely close half in most divisions; at the top and at the bottom. Tollgate F lead the way in Division Three thanks to a 7-3 victory over Gilberd A. Ethan Lloyd has now taken his winning percentage to 95.24% for Tollgate. Tollgate G beat Pegasus E 9-1 to move into second place. Pegasus’ only point of the evening came in the doubles. St James E and Pegasus D played out a 5-5 draw. John Marshall won all his games for St James.

In Division Four, Gilberd B beat Pegasus G 6-4 with Harry Lynch achieving a maximum. Lawford D claimed a 10-0 win against Tollgate H as the game was not played.

Tollgate A had a very positive week in the Premier Division after beating Walton A 10-0. Colin Stallwood maintains his 100%-win record. If they keep winning by big margins like this, it begs the question as to who can actually catch them. Rowhedge A did their best to keep up with Tollgate A after beating Tollgate B 10-0. They sit 17 points behind Tollgate A with a game in hand. Pegasus A beat St James B 6-4. Ian Whiteside won all his games for Pegasus.

Only 3 points separate the top three teams in Division One. Rowhedge D sit top of the pile after beating Tollesbury A 9-1. Tollesbury’s only point of the evening came in the doubles. Walton B are second as they beat Lawford B 10-0.  John Colvin came closest to a point for Lawford after losing 8-11 in the final set to Paul Meikle. Gt Horkesley A had a close 6-4 victory over St James C to sit third in the table. Ken Lewis won all his games for Gt Horkesley. Rowhedge C beat Tollgate D 8-2 with Chris Brook proving too strong for all his opponents. Tollgate C beat Tollesbury A 8-2. Steve Scholz achieved a maximum for Tollgate.

In Division Two, two Rowhedge teams are in the promotion spots at the halfway stage of the season. However, there is much to play for after Christmas as the top five teams are only separated by 7 points. Rowhedge F are currently top after beating Tollesbury B 9-1. Kamil Lentas and Mark Glenister won all their games for Rowhedge. Rowhedge E beat third place Lawford C 8-2. Edward Rudge and Christopher Parr achieved maximums for Rowhedge. Dedham A beat St James D 10-0 to move them away from the relegation zone. Tollgate E and Pegasus B played out a 5-5 draw. Roger Hance ended the night unbeaten for Tollgate.
