Tollgate A close in on title

Tollgate A are on the verge of winning the Premier Division for the second successive season. They ran out comfortable 8-2 winners against St James A with Trevor Lloyd earning a maximum. The only team able to catch Tollgate is Rowhedge A, however Tollgate only need two points from their final two games to clinch the title. At the other end of the table, there is a huge relegation scrap going on. The current team at the foot of the table, St James B, made sure they stayed in the survival battle by beating Rowhedge B 6-4. Sam Hume won all of his games for St James. They now sit only four points from safety with three games to play. Pegasus A climbed out of the bottom two after a very impressive performance against Walton A, beating them 8-2. Rob Bozier achieved a maximum for Pegasus. Lawford A beat Tollgate B 8-2 with Andrew Holmes and Daniel Shelley winning all of their games.

In Division One, Rowhedge D remain top of the table after beating Tollgate C 9-1. Walton B needed a big result to stay within a few points, but could only manage a 5-5 draw against Rowhedge C. Derek Willis won all of his games for Walton and they are now ten points behind Rowhedge D. However, they still have a game in hand over the team currently top. Lawford B beat St James C 7-3 to move off the bottom of the table for the first time in ten weeks. Peter Armes achieved a maximum for Lawford.

A top-of-the-table clash occurred last week in Division Two with Rowhedge F pitting their wits against Rowhedge E. It wasn’t surprising, then, that both teams drew 5-5 with each other. Christopher Parr won all of his games for Rowhedge E. Gt Horkesley B beat Dedham A 8-2, but it was far less comfortable for Gt Horkesley than the scoreline suggests. Five of the seven games played (Dedham only featured with two players) were won in five sets. Everybody participating contributed with at least a point with only Steve Lowe remaining unbeaten with two. Tollesbury B are still in with a fighting chance of staying up after beating Rowhedge G 6-4. No player for Tollesbury was able able to beat Rowhedge’s Jared Chelski, which takes his incredible record in Division Two to forty-four games won out of a possible forty-four played.

In Division Three, Tollgate F (who are already champions) beat Gt Horkesley C 10-0.

Rowhedge H look certain to win Division Four after recording a 10-0 win over Pegasus G. Gilberd B beat Lawford D 9-1 with Harry Lynch and Jack Myatt winning all of their games for the Gilberd. Tollgate H beat Pegasus F 6-4. Youngster Oliver Rampton was on fine form yet again, winning all three of his games for Tollgate.
