Oliver Outstanding
Colebridge Eagles did club mates Colebridge Dinosaurs a favour last night ( March 27th ) following a 7-3 away victory over Streetly C in Division One of the Birmingham League.
Whilst Streetly have games in hand over Dinosaurs , who have completed their league programme , they are three points shy of safety. Streetly have a difficult run in to contend with , and will be looking with some anxiety at their precarious position.
That aside , it was another night of victory for the tireless Bernard Oliver , who bagged a hat trick over Mike Standen , Colin Oakes and John Waters. He was assisted by Farooq Kakar , who won two , and John Swinburne , who took a single , and teamed up with Oliver for the doubles.
A match of some duration , which didn't commence before 19.40 , and featured six games which went to the full five sets , and wasn't completed before 23.10.
The lateness of the hour did not prevent Swinburne racing to a liberally licensed hostelry to celebrate the win with a well deserved pint.
Thanks to Streetly for their hospitality , which included a hot drink and a cornucopia of delectable pastries.
