Coaching

All of our coaches have current Child Protection, First Aid and DBS or CRB certificates.

Our club prides itself on the quality of coaching available from absolute beginner to International player, there are always coaches available to help you to improve your game.

 

Mel Buxton

Mel is an ex top Chestefield League player and is now the Head coach at the academy and has been for the last 15 years. He is a Table Tennis England qualified UKCC level 2 coach as well as a Table Tennis England disability coach. He has gained vast experience over the last 15 years including formerly being the one to one coach to all of our clubs international players. His dedication to coaching and continuous success of the players that he coached led to him being awarded the ETTA National Coach of The Year 2008.  Mel currently runs a Junior coaching session on Tuesdays from 5.45pm until 6.45pm for junior players of all abilities from absolute beginner to County player. New players are always very welcome, either contact Mel, his contact details are available on our Contacts page or just turn up on the night.

Dave Kelly

Dave is a high level league player and a qualified UKCC level 2 Coach, he has been a coach at the club for many years and is always willing to pass on his advice to help players of all ages and standards to improve their game. Dave is also an equipment specialist and can provide expert knowledge on the correct equipment available to suit your game.

Jake Meikle

At the age of 19 Jake was a county standard player. Jake is a qualified UKCC level 1 Coach having been mentored by our Senior Coach Mel Buxton. Again, Jake is always available to pass on his advice to players of all abilities. Jake specialises in tournament organisation.

Isobel Ashley

Isobel is a qualified UKCC level 2 Coach and along side this she is an elite player, currently ranked 26 in the Table Tennis England Senior Women's list, she has represented England Schools (ESTTA) at Under13, Under16 and continues to do so at Under 19 and has also represented the ETTA at Cadet level. Isobel has attended many many training camps throughout the UK and Europe held by some of the best coaches available, Isobel is able to share some the knowledge that she has gained from these camps. Isobel is also a qualified 1st4Sport level 1 Strength and Conditioning Coach.
