This leaves the team joint bottom with 3 points however the team is hopefully to avoid relegation with tony returning after injury and only 1 point separating third from sixth

The third team had a slightly better weekend in a very even standard of teams in Division 1b of the National League. They sit in third place with 1 win 3 draws and 1 loss. Club players Dave Greaves won 3 from 4 and Andy Portlock 4 from 6.

Under the captaincy of Dave Greaves the 3rd team began their campaign against local rivals  Whitworth Academy.

Representing Draycott on the Saturday were Dave Roberts, Jeff Craighill and Andy Portlock as Dave Greaves was still struggling with a back injury.

All three played well at times and each won one of their two games leaving the match at a 3 -3 draw.

The second match was against Pudsey with the same three players for Draycott again winning one game each for a further draw.

The third Saturday match was against Olop 1 the same three again  played for Draycott. It was a hard fought match with Andy Portlock obtaining an impressive two wins. Unfortunately that was it with a 4 – 2 loss.

Sunday saw a change to the team with Dave Greaves stepping in for Andy Portlock.

The first match against Graham Spicer 1 resulted in a 5 -1 win. The match started with an impressive win by Jeff Craighill over Phil Cawser. Dave Greaves picked up 2 wins and Dave Roberts 1.

In the final match of the weekend a very tight match against Blackpool 1  which again resulted in a draw. The match could have gone either way with Dave Greaves picking up the last game of the day to grab the draw having lost his first game at deuce in the fifth.

The end result was to finish in third , one point behind second  place and with new signing Jeff Rigby to come in at number 1 for the second weekend we still have a good chance of promotion.
