Club Report 120114
Chargers away at East Boldon. East Boldon performing  really well in their first season were riding high in third position and must have been expecting an easy game with the visit of Sacriston Chargers, second bottom in the league, but events proved otherwise. Chargers brought in Jeff McKenna into their squad and he proved invaluable in taking all three of his matches . Both Neil Wilkinson and Jeff Hope took him all the way to the final set. The same situation happened in the doubles where Jeff was joined by Peter Whitfield and they took the first two ends 11-9 but lost thenext two to Neil and Jeff from East Boldon before coming back to win the final set 11-5. With William Walton from East Boldon beating Paul Henderson, and Jeff Hope and Neil Wilkinson winning two each, the game ended up all square 5-5.
Desperadoes home against West B
Youth against experience and experience wins but not so easily!
Desperadoes were reduced to only two playing members against the team currently second in the league and fielding the well experienced Alan Whitwham, Mike Redfearn and Tom Turner, but both Oliver King and Robert Atkinson put up a tremendous effort. Oliver King’s attacking forehand drives quite often caught his opponents off guard and he very nearly took games off both Alan Whtwham and Mike Redfearn. Robert Akinson with his general all round play kept himself in many rallies but couldn’t find the final killer shot to convert into important points. The highlight of the night was when they played the doubles against Alan and Mike and won the 3rd end 14-12 with some excellent tactical play, Score 0-10 to West.
Bombers home against St Gabriels C
A tremendous struggle between two evenly matched teans with Bombers represented by Ian McPherson, Dan Nicholson and the fast improving Dan Hutchinson. St Gabriesl included  the ever reliable Syd Gooding   Bomber Helm and Graham Murden. Player of the match was Ian McPherson who won all his singles and with Dan Nicholson won the doubles and with Dan Nicholson winning one and Dan Hutchinson beating Syd Gooding the Bombers came away victorious 6-4.
