Brandon B v Chargers
Chargers needed to keep the pressure on the top two teams Lanchester A and Brandon A and with Dennis Jennings, Max Duffin and Peter Whitfield they were up against Lynn Reilly Paul Henderson and John Parkin. The Brandon team put up a good fight but John Parkin was the only successful member taking both Dennis Jennings and Peter Whitfield to 5 ends before beating them both 3-2.
Max Duffin was player of the match winning all his games and helping Dennis to the doubles giving Chargers all 4 points in an 8-2 win.
Eagles v Desperadoes
There was no giving any quarter in this club derby as the father and son pair of Nigel and Sax Duffin joined John Reid for Desperadoes against the youngest team in the league, the Eagles, represented by improving Jack Pugh, attacking Charlie Coates and stone wall Oliver Turnbull. The matches went on and on with exceptionally long rallies and matches going to the full 5 ends. Oliver Turnbull managed to win one game in the longest game of the evening against Nigel Duffin, two consistently steady players not willing to make a mistake. The final game between Jack Pugh and Sam Duffin contained two 16-14 ends but Sam came away with the win to take player of the match in a 9-1 win.
Bombers v West A
Bombers could only field two players as possible replacements were barred after playing for Chargers the night before. Dan Nicolson and Dan Hutchinson were up against the veterans of Mike Lyons Dave Thompson and Kishore Sriharan. Dan Hutchinson produced the most attacking table tennis and used it effectively to pick up 2 games and Dan Nicholson played consistent all round shots to give him 2 games and with only the doubles left could half the points, the doubles was an exciting game with Mike and Kishore taking on the two Dans. The 2 Dans came through 3-1 to give Bombers 2 points in a 5-5 draw.
