Nomads v Sonics

The interclub derby in the friendly league proved a true derby with no quarter given by either side.

Sonics with regulars Jack Pugh Charlie Coates and with the experienced Barry Dingwall were playing the inexperienced Chris and Billy Jennings and Jack Preston. Jack, Charlie and Barry showed their experience by taking 2 games each and Jack and Charlie combined to win the doubles but it did take all 5 ends with the final end going to 11-9 to complete the success. However the star of the night was Jack Preston who showed how far he has come in a few weeks by taking all his singles games to give him the player of the match. Of particular note was his game against Barry which went again the full 5 ends before he came out on top 3-2. Final score 7-3 to Sonics cementing their second position in the league with one game to go.

Brandon v Chargers

The Brandon charge to the top of the league was slowed down by a motivated Chargers consisting of John Reid, Terry Charlton and guest Max Duffin. Brandon had the usual talented Simon Knopf fast improving John Leeman and consistent Henry Davies. Max proved unstoppable on the night and his most exciting game was against Simon who took him to 5 ends and 14-12 in the final end. Simon won his other two games but with Terry wining two for Chargers and Henry and John winning one each it was down to the doubles to decide the game which Brandon won to give a 5-5 draw.

Aces v Ouston

Aces kept up  the pressure on the chasing pack at the top of Division 2 with another well fought win against a very strong Ouston side containing Chris Walton, Dan  Dodds and Neil Rodgers. Waldemar did his usual demolition job talking man of the match by winning all his singles again without dropping a set and with Ian took the doubles. With Ian and Jon Mawson taking 1 each they took the game 6-4 giving them a 19 point lead but they have played 2 more games than the nearest team North Fire.

Desperadoes v NECA B

This was a tough game for the Desperadoes against a NECA team composed of Norman Patrick, John Gallagher and Nicholas Jia Cheng Yuen. Desperadoes had Sam Duffin starting for the first time with his brother Max and also had the very young Luke Dumighan who within 6 months will be beating most players in the league. Both Max and Sam won 2 but these were the only games won as NCA B ran out 6-4 winners.
