Ian McAllister(Aces) v Miroslav Godlewski(Silksworth B)

Miroslav had a 9 point start in this handicap singles game but really struggled in getting to grips with Ian McAllister’s pendulum serve and his 3rd ball attack. They spent a number of points feeling each other out and in a defensive situation, Miroslav could manage to keep the ball on the table, but as soon as Ian started his top spin attacks Miroslav was forced from the table and Ian would go on to win the point. Ian took the game in three ends setting up a 3rd round internal club match against the up and coming Max Duffin.

Eagles v Silksworth B

Silksworth have really strengthened their squad with the addition of Sean Cleghorn who will surely end up in the top averages for the league. He joined regulars Miroslav Godlewski and John Foster against the youngsters of Eagles, Jack Pugh, fresh from his success in the handicap cup, Oliver Turnbull and Luke Dumighan. Silksworth who will be hoping to improve their league position in the last three games were given some close games but never looked like dropping any games. Jack Pugh surprised Miroslav by taking an end off him and young Luke was certainly not overwhelmed and even took Sean to deuce before succumbing Result 10-0 to Silksworth.

St Gabriels E V Chargers

Chargers travelled without their top player Max Duffin who was on a family holiday. They also rested Terry Charlton and brought in the experienced Colin Pritchard and relative newcomer to the league Dennis Jennings to join regular Peter Whitfield. St Gabriels were without their regular Viv Ford but substituted their own experienced player Mike Hampshire who joined Dave Aldridge and Derek Buller. Chargers needed maximum points to keep the challenge[PW1]  for promotion going and St Gabriel fought all the way with 5 games going to 5 ends and another two to 4 ends. Game of the night was Mike v Dennis where Mike went 2 games up and looked to be cruising but Dennis using his varying serve and backhand smashes to good effect came back into the game and forced Mike away from the table restricting his use of his forehand drive and took the next three ends to win 3-2. The doubles between Mike and David and Colin and Dennis went end to end and eventually Dennis and Colin smashed their way to victory. Colin took player of the match in a 9-1 victory to Chargers giving them a full 4 points in their quest for promotion.
