Brandon C v Chargers

This was a game between the two bottom teams in the division but this didn’t stop the games being played with passion between two local rival teams. The youngsters of Jack Pugh for Chargers and Jordan Dove for Brandon are going to be real stars of the future, and Jordan with his improved serve and dynamic backhand drive took two singles games in a display of attacking table tennis. Jack Pugh with his more measured game played consistent table tennis and even though he went behind in his matches he came through to take two singles as well. Dennis Jennings for Chargers in his first summer season is improving in every match and took two singles as well with his attacking play. Paul Henderson and Val Lough for Brandon played quality table tennis but were unlucky not to pick up any points, Paul with his defensive consistency and Val with her powerful drives caused Peter Whitfield problems but he came through to take all his singles and the doubles with Dennis to give him player of the match and the Chargers the 8-2 victory.

Bombers v NECA

Bombers started this game in a positive mood needing to avenge the 8-2 defeat earlier in the season to keep themselves in promotion contention and turned out the youngsters of Dan Hutchinson, Peter Smallcombe and Max Duffin, against the competent team of Zhou, Huang, and Xuan Ji of NECA. However during the game it emerged that Old England had resigned their last two games against fellow promotion contenders Matfen and North Fire giving those two teams 10 clear points for each game and the chance of promotion for Bombers was long gone.  The game was still played at a high tempo with two naturally attacking teams giving their all. Xuan Ji proved the best player on the night winning all his games and with Huang took the doubles, but Bombers limited the damage with both Peter Smallcombe and Max Duffin taking two singles each to give a respectable losing margin of 6-4

Desperadoes v Knights

Anna Sowerby, Adam Webster and Daniel McManus travelled with Knights to play the Desperadoes  team of John Reid, Michael Lishman and Neil Coulthard. This was a tremendously competitive match with 4 games going to 5 ends and 2 to 4 ends. Player of the night was Adam Webster taking all his 3 singles. Game of the night was Michael against Anna which went the full 5 ends and even then went to 15-13 before Michael prevailed. John and Michael also won the doubles in 5 ends and with John kicking in with a singles win Desperadoes went down 7-3 in their last game of the season .
