Comets v Unionist B

Unionist B are riding high at the top of the league and were going to be stern test for the Comets team who drafted in Haydn Williamson to join Colin Pritchard and Peter Whitfield. Unionist had regulars Dave Bannon , Dick  Karczewski and Jamie Westwater. Notable performances were the games between Colin and Dick which went to 4 ends Haydn and Dick which went to 5 ends and Colin and Jamie who went to 2 or 3 points in each game. The doubles also was fairly close with Colin and Haydn taking Dick and Jamie to 4 ends. However the experience of the Unionist team meant they closed out all the games and came away with a 10-0 win.

East Boldon Cowboys v Sacriston Eagles

Eagles needed a good result to take them up the table and this game certainly helped them with all three players putting in a tremendous performance in an exciting game that went close in every match.

Haydn Williamson took MVP with a solid performance only dropping one end in his three victories.

Jack Pugh also won all three but in two games had to go to 5 ends and in a titanic battle with the exciting Ryan Campbell only took it 12-10 after Ryan unusually missed a forehand drive.

Ross Clennell played some really well crafted table tennis and in his two games against the two veterans both matches went to 2 points in each end with Ross losing against Jim Collar but winning against Bruce Davison. The doubles was a close run affair going to 5 ends and again the final end was only decided by two points to Eagles. The game was played in a terrific atmosphere and was a credit in sportsmanship to the sport, well done to East Boldon and congratulations to Eagles on an 8-2 victory.
