Devils v Magic
This was a tremendous match between two well matched teams, who both played with passion but not at the cost of sporting behaviour. Magic were in second place in the league with Devils rapidly catching them up over the past weeks. Magic fielded their usual trio of Luke Peter and Ross, while Devils had John Foster and John Leeman but with John the third (Spencer) being unavailable, brought in one of their new returners Peter Flowers who is not out of place at all in this league.
The two Peters were on first with Peter Whitfield managing to turn a 2-1 deficit into a victory.
Luke against John Foster was next and Luke is turning into a player with more resilience and despite losing the first end came back to win 3-1.
John Leeman pulled one back against Ross but Peter Whitfield took the fourth making it 3-1 going into doubles.
The pairing of Luke and Ross looked a mistake as they went 2-1 down to the 2 Johns, but with Ross playing his tactical safety play they came back to win 3-2. The next 4 games went 3-1 to Devils with only Luke winning his game which left the match on a knife edge going into the final game between Luke and Peter Flowers. Luke looked out of it at 2-0 but recovered to 2-2 but in the final end was 6-10 down but his stubbornness came through and he took 6 points in a row to come out on top and give Magic a 6-4 win in a really exciting match.
