Going into the final week of the season there is only one issue to be decided and that is who will finish runner up of Div. Two. It looks as though it is between Cwmbran Eccentrics and Cwmbran Fellows. The Eccentrics were hoping to clinch second spot in their match against Cwmbran Devils. Unfortunately, they come up against John Spencer who was making his return to league table tennis after an absence of over 20 years. His main claim to fame was winning the Welsh Doubles Championship with his brother Jeff in 1968. His 3 wins together with an unbeaten performance from Colin Scott ensured that the runner up position will be decided in the final round of matches. Having already clinched the title Cwmbran Dynamos continued their unbeaten season with a win over Cwmbran Panthers. To have any chance of obtaining the runner up position Cwmbran Fellows needed a big win against the bottom side Blaenavon Aces. Whilst still gaining a convincing win the Fellows team could not get the maximum points win they were looking for. This was mainly due to a good performance from Matthew Pearce who picked up 2 wins to deny the Fellows. So it is now down to the last match of the season between Eccentrics and Fellows to decide the outcome of runner up. However, both teams will be missing key players for this match which seems to favour the Eccentrics.
