This weeks matches in Division One of the Eastern Valley Table Tennis League saw Cwmbran Aztecs extend their lead at the top of the division. In their latest match the Aztecs defeated Cwmbran Tigers 20-14 with Tony Collins once again picking up the player of the match award with maximum wins. Collins was well supported by Mark Edmunds with three wins and Andrew Ryder with one win. For the Tigers Michal Luckanic picked up two good wins over higher ranked players and guest player John Thomas had a good win over Andrew Ryder.

The other match in the division one saw Cwmbran Aces defeat Cwmbran Blues 19-14 with Ben Allen awarded the player of the match with his maximum wins. Allen was well supported by guest player Ray Goulding with his two wins. Unfortunately the Blues could not overcome the absence of their two top players David Lloyd and Mark Farrow, however, Josef Sujanec managed two wins and there were single wins for Roger Grech and Colin Price.

The outcome of the Division Two title is looking likely to be decided on the final round of matches. Cwmbran Eccentrics took advantage of the other joint leaders, North Gwent Cougars, having a bye week to take a 24 point lead following their 24-7 win over Cwmbran Lions. Player of the match was the Eccentrics Ian Shipley with three wins and he was well supported by John Thomas, also with three wins and Lincoln Alford with two wins. For the Lions, Haydn Skinner gained his teams only victory with a good win over Lincoln Alford. Next week the Eccentrics have a bye, thus giving the Cougars an opportunity to close the gap at the top.

Sitting safely in third place are Cwmbran Dynamos following this weeks 23-9 win over Cwmbran Fellows. Player of the match was the Dynamos' Alex Jones with his maximum wins including a good win over Wayne Ford. Jones was well supported by Richard Lownsbrough and Will Smith-Haddon with two wins each. For the Fellows, Wayne Ford picked up two wins and Mick Mellor gave Jones a scare when only losing in the deciding game.

The final match in Division Two saw Cwmbran Panthers beat Cwmbran Devils 26-9. The Panthers' Howard Gaut collected the player of the match award with his three wins. Gaut was well supported by Sunam Rai, also with three wins, including a good win over the higher ranked Stan Williams and Yuri Cherkasenko with two wins. For the Devils, Stan Williams fought very hard for his one win and seven team points.
