5th February 2019 Match Reports

 A strange week in Division One of the Eastern Valley Table Tennis League where all four teams playing had to rely on guest players. Two of the teams involved had all players borrowed from other teams and there were two players "playing up" from Division Two. 

Cwmbran Blues maintained their second position with a 21-14 win over Cardiff Nomads. All the Blues players were borrowed from other sides and one of these,Tony Collins, picked up the player of the match award with three wins. He was well supported by Andrew Ryder with two wins and John Thomas with one win. For the Nomads Mike Bishop picked up two wins and guest player, Mark Edmunds, one win.

In the other match YMCA Preachers maintained their third position with a 21-16 win over Blaenavon Aces who also fielded a complete side of borrowed players. Player of the match was the Preachers' guest player Mark Edmunds with three wins and he was well supported by Claire Flannagan with two wins and Eric Turner with one win. For the Aces, Jeraze Dhanbhoora, Michal Lukanic picked up one win and there was also a good win for young Sam Slatter over Claire Flannagan.

Division Two is building up to an exciting end with North Gwent Cougars and Cwmbran Eccentrics tied at the top following this weeks matches. The Cougars gained maximum points in their match, beating Cwmbran Devils 27-3 with Michal Policht awarded the player of the match with his three wins. Policht was well supported by Sam Slatter and Jon Deacon, also with three wins. For the Devils, Stan Williams scored all his teams points.

The Eccentrics overcome third placed Cwmbran Dynamos 21-13 with John Thomas awarded the player of the match with three wins. Thomas was well supported by Ian Shipley with two wins and Lincoln Alford with one win. For the Dynamos Alex Jones picked up two wins and Will Smith-Haddon one win.

The final match in Division Two saw Cwmbran Fellows defeat Cwmbran Panthers 18-15. The Fellows had the player of the match in Wayne Ford with his three wins and he was well supported by Peter Teichner and Mick Mellor with their one win each. For the Panthers there were two wins each for Howard Gaut and Yuri Cherkasenko.
