In Specsavers Division 2 this week, Wallace House Troopers dropped their first point of the season, whilst Wyre Warriors avoided defeat for the first time. Warriors fought back from 3-5 down to secure the draw against Troopers. Michael Jones was on superb form for Warriors, defeating all 3 opponents in straight sets and also winning the doubles with partner Ray Griffiths.
Bengeworth Sharks are narrow leaders of Division 2 at this early stage with maximum points, although they had to fight hard to a narrow victory over local rivals Bengeworth Green this week. The tie was finally decided in the doubles, with Sharks’ Bob Bryant and Howard Bentham facing Green’s Dave Simkins and Brian Haines. During the singles, these four players had all made 2 wins each. The doubles was equally close, with Bryant and Bentham securing the win in 5 sets.
