Kington Blades retook the lead in Specsavers Division 1 this week with a 6-4 win against closest rivals Littleton Clubs.  Clubs’ Dave Harvey won his 3 matches, continuing his unbeaten run this season. But Blades’ strength in depth ensured victory as Alan Cotton,  Pete Dunnett and Gary Stewart each won their other 2 matches.

Bengeworth Purple had a close contest with Wallace House Hussars ending in a 5-5 draw. Hussars’ Luke Moffat earned his 6th Player of the Match award this season with 3 wins. Dougie Allan and Margaret Dignum won 2 each for Purple and came close to taking all the points against higher placed rivals, just needing a win in the doubles. Moffat and Chris Dyson went into a 2 game lead. Allan and Dignum fought back to 2-2. But Moffat and Dyson raised their game to win again in the 5th and gain the vital point they needed for the draw.
