Evesham & District Table Tennis Association Specsavers Division 1 Report

In Evesham & District Specsavers Division 1, Bengeworth Purple picked up their first win of the season, beating Littleton Cobras 6-4. Richard McGhee was Player of the match, with 3 wins plus a doubles victory with partner Margaret Dignum. Alistair Witheford impressed for Cobras, playing up from Division 2 and gaining 2 wins.
Littleton Positives suffered their first defeat of the season, losing 6-4 to Wyre Elite who have won every match so far. Alex Grokhotov was undefeated for Elite, and only dropped one set all evening. He also combined with Matt Hartwell to ensure the win via a fiveset doubles contest against Nick Mytton and Doug Payne. Hartwell lost a match for the first time this season, beaten in 5 sets by Payne. Hartwell recovered from this disappointment to win yet another thrilling fiveset battle against Nick Mytton. Chris Gooderham failed to win a match for Elite, but put up strong resistance taking both Payne and James Morrow to 5 sets. Wyre Elite also had a 7-3 victory in a rearranged fixture against Littleton Aces this week.
Wallace House Avengers stayed level with Wyre Elite via a 6-4 win against Littleton Aces. Luke Moffat won 3 and is level with Alex Grokhotov at the top of the averages, both on 15 wins from 15 played.
Littleton Clubs registered a 7-3 win against Bengeworth Red. Dave Harvey won 3 for Clubs. Jack Davis won 2 for Red and combined with Chris Message to fight back from 2 sets down to win the doubles against Harvey and John Taylor.
Kington Blades defeated local rivals Kington Bulldogs 10-0.
