Littleton Positives edged ahead at the top of Evesham & District Specsavers Division 1 with a 9-1 win against Littleton Cobras and a crucial 6-4 victory over close rivals Wallace House Avengers. Luke Moffat won 3 for Avengers, but Doug Payne and Nick Mytton each won 2 for Positives and then combined to beat Moffat and Geoff Burford in the doubles.
Wyre Elite are close behind Positives after a 7-3 win against Littleton Aces. A strong win in their game in hand could see them retake the lead.
Kington Bulldogs secured their first win of the season against Bengeworth Purple. Andrew Smith was the driving force for Bulldogs and finished the evening undefeated.
Bengeworth Red drew with Littleton Aces. Jack Davis was Player of the Match with 3 wins for Red. He also won the doubles with partner Luke Gresty. Andrew Taylor and Mark Bilsborrow won 2 each for Aces.
Last year’s champions Kington Blades were held to a draw by Littleton Clubs. Alan Cotton and Pete Dunnett each won 2 for Blades but Clubs have Dave Harvey, the only undefeated player in division 1, and his unbeaten run continued. Blades are now 18 points behind the leaders, and although they have 2 matches in hand, they are looking unlikely to retain their title.
